Committee Questions to the Superintendent . The committee asked Steve what he thought of a sand trap between the #4 green and the pond (to prevent carts from going though there, etc.) Steve explained that the area in that vicinity will be raised approximately 6 feet when the blocks are done around the pond. . The committee asked if an environmental study had been done in preparation for all the block construction and other work that will be done on the pond in the fall. (There are turtles, frogs, etc. that the committee is concerned about as to what will happen to them.) The answer was No. . The committee asked if more “Memorial” trees are going to be planted in the near future (since money has been collected for them)? Steve said not right away, but there are a couple that he has planted which could be used as memorial trees. There was also some discussion on some of the memorial plaques that are missing from the trees. Millie will show Steve at least one missing by #1. 7. Old Business a) A lot of dates for upcoming tournaments, etc. were voted on: i. “55 and Up Cup” – This ‘Ryder Cup’ format is played one day at Hawk Ridge and the second day at the LSLCA Par course. Motion by Don to play at the LSLCA Par 3 on Sunday, Sept. 9. Tom 2nd. Approved. ii. Fletcher Cup – Motion by Joe Hochnadel to play this on Sept. 16 with a rain date of Sept. 23. Mike 2nd. Approved. iii. Pontooners – The Pontooners Club have about 24 players and would like to play around 2 pm, no shotgun. Date would be Sept. 30. Motion by Don and 2nd by Ginger. Approved. iv. CA Fall Classic – There is interest in trying this on a Saturday instead of a Sunday to avoid the Rams’ games. Motion by Tom for Oct. 13th and a Rain Date of Oct. 20th. Joe 2nd. Approved. b) Junior Golf – Don said sign-ups going good. There is a date change to when it ends. The date is Friday, August 10, not the 17th (school starts). c) Lot of discussion on the golf shack replacement. (At their April meeting, the BoD did not approve the committee’s request for a sub-committee or being able to send out a survey. There was discussion on perhaps contacting each Board member individually and asking what he/she needs to see to approve or have the process move forward. Perhaps the survey needs to be only 2-3 questions at the most. d) Event Signage – Steve Hart is still investigating. (This is for some sort of display sign near the golf shack for upcoming events, etc.) e) Spring Fling Report – The Spring Fling was held on Sunday, May 6 and was a great success. The weather was hot, but at least it wasn’t raining. There were 33 teams (66 players) – 7 Ladies, 14 Couples, and 12 Men teams. We had a lot of great prizes for people and everyone had a great time. Thanks to all the golf committee members that helped. 8. New Business a) Hole-in-One Insurance – Faye had contacted the National Hole-in-One Association (NHIOA) and requested different quotes for Hole-in-One prizes that we could have at our CA tournaments. This would be an insurance policy that is purchased and if someone got a hole-in-one, he/she would win a prize . Bonus prizes can also be offered on several other holes. For example, for a fee of $180 (paid by a sponsor perhaps), you could have a Hole-in-One prize on #8. If someone got a Hole-In-One, he/she would win $5,000. There would be “Bonus” holes with prizes. For example, if you got a Hole-in-One on #4, you would win airline tickets for two. b) Additional information on all of this is attached. Motion by Don to adjourn and 2nd by Joe. Next meeting is June12 at 5:30 pm.
